How do I find my public IP address?
Choose the current-IP action in the main form. A location provider returns the public address seen for that request. A VPN, proxy, mobile carrier or shared router may affect it. This usually differs from your device’s private local-network address.
Can the Local network check inspect my router or Wi-Fi signal?
It cannot directly read router settings, Wi-Fi signal strength or cable state. The Local network check uses browser connection hints and, after you start it, checks responses from this website, Google Public DNS and ipify. “Online,” connection quality and speed estimates are clues; a failed request or unavailable IPv6 is not proof that the network is down. Individual results, timeouts and suggested next steps are shown, with Stop and Run again controls.
Why is my IP location wrong?
Geolocation providers estimate a location from network data. The displayed city may reflect a provider's network registration or routing rather than your position. Databases update at different times, so services can disagree. IP location cannot identify your home address; use it as context, not proof of where a person is.
What does an ASN tell me?
An autonomous system number identifies a network participating in internet routing. Its organization may be an ISP, cloud provider or another network operator. An ASN alone does not prove who is using an address, whether it is a VPN, or whether its activity is trustworthy.
Does the DNS tool test my device's DNS resolver?
No. It sends the selected domain and record type to Google Public DNS over HTTPS. The result describes that resolver's answer. It does not reveal your system resolver or prove the absence of a DNS leak. Choose A for IPv4, AAAA for IPv6 or another record type relevant to your question.
Can IP Lens tell me whether an IP is clean?
The current site has no configured commercial reputation provider. Risk, proxy, VPN and hosting assessments remain unknown. Links to independent reputation services are available, but their records can differ and should be read in context. Neither a location result nor the lack of a warning certifies an address as safe.
What does the WebRTC check expose?
When started, it gathers connection candidates using your browser and Google STUN. Some candidates may reveal a network exit; other addresses may be hidden by browser policy. No camera or microphone permission is requested. No visible candidate is an inconclusive result, not a guarantee that every possible leak is prevented.
Is the browser fingerprint sent to a server?
The browser check calculates its summary locally and adds it to the working report in memory. The application does not send that summary to a diagnostic provider. It is not globally unique. If you download and share the report, its browser details go wherever you choose to send the file.
Why does latency differ from a command-line ping?
This tool times HTTPS requests from your browser to Google and Cloudflare DNS endpoints and reports a median of successful samples. HTTP processing and browser behavior affect the result. It is not ICMP ping, bandwidth measurement or a worldwide probe. Failed samples reduce the available evidence.
Why does a check fail or show unknown?
Possible causes include a provider outage, rate limit, blocked cross-origin request, privacy extension or missing browser capability. Check the method and provider before repeating the test. An IPv6 failure alone does not identify its cause. Do not turn off security protections merely to replace an unknown value.
Does a healthy AI status page mean my account will work?
No. Official status feeds describe provider-reported health. They do not verify your subscription, login, region or account permissions. For an account-specific problem, consult the service’s own support and access requirements.
Are my searches saved?
The current tab keeps up to 20 recent IP lookups in memory. Reloading starts a new session. The application saves only the language preference in localStorage, not that history. Hosting and diagnostic providers may keep request records under their own policies. See the Privacy Policy.
Does hiding an IP also remove it from a report?
No. Masking changes the on-screen display. JSON reports retain complete stored results, which may include full IP addresses, coordinates and browser properties. Open and review a report before attaching it to an email or posting it publicly.
Why can I not install the app, and does it work offline?
Installation depends on your browser, device and an HTTPS connection. Use Install app for an available native prompt or browser-specific instructions. Installed windows still need internet access for network checks. IP Lens does not register a service worker or cache diagnostic responses for offline use.
